013 - Doomsday

Director: Neil Marshall
Year: 2008

I forget if there is a year thrown around, but lets just says in the not too distant future a virus spreads throughout the British isles. This virus kills thousands and thousands of people and to contain the threat vast areas of England are quarantined and sealed off from the world.

Years later the virus resurfaces and a team is sent into the quarantine to find a cure that is to believed to reside in the blood of a few survivors found in the hot zone. Once over the walls the team has to find the cure and get out while fighting off a crowd of crazies that inhabit the quarantined area.

Being shut off from the world for so long has turned the survivors into a primitive society that brings back memories of the Mad Max films. Think 28 Days later meets Mad Max... thats Doomsday. Limited supplies, no food, no contact with the outside world, and a madman controlling the crowds all boils down into an interesting film that has something for everyone. Cars, explosions, romance, a sprinkle of knights and swords, and zombies. Check it out.
